Well, I finished my "link and pin" couplings. The pins (cut down nails) are fixed - so all I need to fumble about with is either a pair of tweezers or small taper nose pliers.
The larger coupling is for the loco and the last pic is the basis of my new build. Don't hold your breath for the latter - events have a habit of conspiring against me!

I wonder how they hold up when all six are pulled by a loc. They seem to be awfully light?

Mine all have Ivan's (IP Engineering) steel wheels fitted on sleeved steel axles. No problem hauling 20+ of these (half) loaded with gravel and crushed brick over closed foam Polly wedges to keep the wagons appearing full while in fact at least half empty. Another excellent use of these chassis is as the basis of a small industrial petrol loco where 4 wheel Delrin drive off a small 3v motor via plastic worm and wheel will happily haul a couple of skips or flats around.

Well the PWM controllers arrived yesterday from Hong Kong. I soldered a pair of wires to the motor, connected up the control, then the switched battery holder with four rechargeables (4.8V) and, hey oh!, it worked!

Waiting for power to be switched on ...


Power on and a little red light comes on ....





So now I have to decide what I'm going to build, where to hide the batteries, where to put the switches, etc.

I know how I'm going to disguise the control knob - at least that's something!
