Chlorine (dis-used now in favor of chloramine) is just a disinfectant, or strictly speaking an oxidizer.

Does nothing to oil, metals, etc.

Paul, don't know where you got that Britain is the only country in the world with safe tap water.

True it does rate highly, but it is not the top in the world.

I only drink Scotch Whisky, from some of the purest water around, definitely the purest in the UK.

Oh dear, I have to move into pedant mode.

Do you drink Scotch Whisky, or Scottish Malt Whisky?

Scotch is a blend of whiskies, and I suspect that you drink the single malt whiskies - by far the best. The purest water, generally, for whisky purposes is from the river Spey - am I getting close?

Sorry, Single Malt Scotch... (is there any other ha ha?)

Macallan - 12 to 25 depending on the bank account
Oban
Lagavulin
Laphroaig
Balvenie
Glenmorangie

These are usually my "in stock" ones...

I'm not much for Glenfiddich or Glenlivet which are popular here too.
