Does anyone use it? Is it a waste of money?
Obviously some plants don't need it....
Once those questions are answered then we can get into the rooting jokes. Ill get one in as I started the topic; my wife sprinkles it on my cereal every morning even though I don't need it.....

Ah, the natural version of Viagra, not to mention all of the many other brands of male enhancement products out there  ???

Rootone, I believe is a brand my wife has used to get cuttings started. There are as many brands of this stuff as there are of the other stuff above.

The wife uses it too (on the plants). The secret is to get a large surface area - ie. cut the wood at an angle.

From what I read the object is to expose as much of the Cambium layer ( the layer between the bark and the wood) to the rooting medium. It is suggested that cuttings that are torn from the trunk with a "heel"on them will sprout easiest. One avid rooter also suggests that if you get a pack of single edge razor blades and solder the backs together to give you a 5 edged cutting tool that it is advantageous to drag this along the bark where you want the roots to sprout from.

Yes you're right Trev. I just try (sometimes) to remember what SWMBO says. The only time I have green fingers is when using green paint (not taking the pith here :D ) - but I certainly admire anybody who can make things grow!
