Apart from the wildlife sounds, I'm almost tempted to play around with a sound decoder and maybe the Fosworks DCC receiver ..........

I did say, almost........
In the meantime, I'm playing around with an MP3 module and Arduino to see if I can replicate it - though I'm going to be hard pressed to fit it, a receiver and batteries into such a small footprint.

PS - I also love the synchronised fan

Sounds are not a big thing for me, though these are good, but I love the model.

Yes very nice, very gimmicky. But where would you fit the batteries?

One across each end, behind the beams/frames..

That's how I did it for my IP Engineering Simplex - with two 14500 (AA sized) pinion cells wire in parallel. However, mine is 45mm gauge.

Not sure how wide the Slaters 32mm gauge Simplex is.

I am not usually into these units but I have to admit this is very clever and very attractive.
Sadly, way out of my area of expertise.
