New here and just starting a G Scale indoor (1/3rd garage) 2.2 m x 4.5 m layout based on Plan 28 from 101 Track Plans For Model Railroaders. L girder complete, roadbed done, and track down. One battery LGB 0-4-0 done by Dead Rail Installs. Just starting wiring turnouts and uncouplers. Looking forward to great information from others.

We'd all love to see some pics of the building of the layout, if you have some?

Welcome. That's a nice size for an indoor layout. Interesting choice to go for Dead Rail and battery indoors. Have fun and post some pictures please!

Is that not so far away relative?
Well I guess so. Elk grove is about 70 miles from me so yes compared to the UK I'm next door!

Welcome Miguelito, we are gradually building a good sized posse of members from across the pond.
There are a few of us Brits, Aussies and Euros on the forum who have American themed layouts, but we are in the minority, so it is good to have more folk to add to that part of the hobby (of course I am making a whopping assumption that most US members will be having US layouts ....)

Thanks for all the "welcomes". Took me a bit to figure out how to do the first post so photos may well be up to the learning curve. Working on them. As for batteries indoors. I've decided to model Europe using LGB Stainz locomotives and 4-wheel cars (the size/space factor plus I like Europe). Over the years I found the Stainz (even with 4-wheel and 2-shoe pickup) still stalled out on switch frogs, dirty rails, etc. Additionally, my track plan has 3 reversing loops that I didn't want to wire. So batteries provide unbelievably smooth control, no stalling, no reversing challenges, and I can take them outside if I do a small outdoor layout.
